As you may already know from our Facebook group, we cannot go ahead with the Warrington Way Race on Saturday 14th November 2020 as planned because of new government COVID restrictions announced recently, and the likelihood that further restrictions could be put in place in coming weeks.
But we know how much the race means to you and how hard people have been training. So, we plan to run the event as a VIRTUAL TRAIL RUN for everyone who wants to take part – AND THIS MEANS WE CAN NOW OPEN THE EVENT UP TO EVERYONE ON THE WAITING LIST! Full details below – read them carefully!
The Virtual Warrington Way will take place between Sunday 1 November – Monday 30 November 2020. During that time all entrants regardless of entry-type can complete the route on a day and time of their choosing, following the designated route.
Solo runners can start and finish anywhere on the race route, but pairs and relay runners will need to start/finish at the checkpoint locations. Pairs and relay runners do not have to do their stages of the route on the same day. We will also encourage everyone to post pictures, videos or anything else to the Warrington Way Facebook group to share their muddy, wet and heart-warming experiences along the way.
Athletes can arrange with other entrants to run together – and we hope you will see others out on the route along the way – But you must observe the COVID restrictions in place in Warrington and other local authority areas at the time when you run – for example only running in small groups as permitted, sticking to the rules on social distancing and being sensitive to the concerns of the community especially when meeting other footpath users or landowners.
Once you completed, upload your race times (and for pairs and relays your stage times) to the Warrington Way race entry website.
When the Virtual Warrington Way Race closes at the end of November, we will then mail out to all entrants their T-shirt (if they opted for one) and medal, along with a special surprise gift to cheer you up in these difficult times! We will also publish the race results on our website just like normal, though current course records will stand regardless of the 2020 results.
If you want to take part in the Virtual Warrington Way Race – everyone on the waiting list will get an invite to entry very shortly, or you can just go to the race entry website. The race organisation costs will be much lower, so our entry costs will be reduced. The new entry fees will be £12 for solos; £20 for pairs and £32 for relay teams. There will be no UKA fee for non-affiliated runners (or discount for affiliated runners).
