The very best in community-based, family-friendly sports days (or just good-to-be-outdoors days).
Whether you are an accomplished runner or a relative beginner; a supporter of a whizzy kid, or just looking for the heart of your community and the perfect picnic venue… The gorgeous grounds of Lymm High School is the home of the Lymm Trail Races – and the perfect place to be.
The Lymm Festival Trail Races offer a kids’ Fun Run and a 5-mile ADULT RACE, all off-road and based at Lymm High School. The routes include the school playing field and extend into the woods of Helmsdale and Spud Wood.
Organised by Lymm Runners, with Fun Run proceeds going to the Woodland Trust and Friend of Spud Wood, this is the perfect place to spend a summer’s morning. The races start and finish on the playing fields at Lymm High School, Oughtrington Lane, Lymm, WA13 0RB.
Registration Fees

* ADULT Race £15.00 (16+) less £2 for UKA membership
** £2 EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT AVAILABLE UNTIL 31 MARCH (on adult race only) **

Fun Run
The Children’s Fun Run takes place on Lymm High School playing fields and is a course of approximately 2km. Young runners will set off in pursuit of our intrepid Woodland Warrior! We believe he has been training very hard again for this year’s race so we will need some super-speedy runners to try to catch him.
We are encouraging entrants to dress up in their favourite fancy dress outfits. A prize will be awarded for the best-fancy-dressed boy and girl – and we look forward to seeing your amazing costumes.
All fun runners will receive a splendid Lymm Runners medal – and lots of encouragement!
Parents or carers are welcome to accompany/support their children during the Fun Run if needed, but please keep the family dog at home as dogs are not permitted on Lymm High School playing fields.
All profits from the Fun Run go to the Woodland Trust, the wonderful charity that manages Spud Wood.
NEW Courses for 2026
The route for the Adult race starts on the running track on the playing fields at Lymm High School, goes around the playing fields, along footpaths through Helsdale Wood and around Spud Wood, returning to the finish on the track. The provisional routes can be seen below from MapMyRun:
We will be taking Pictures…
Lymm Runners will be taking photos across the Lymm Trail Races – including the children’s Fun Run. These images will be available from the Lymm Runners Flickr account for free download. The images may be used by Lymm Runners in press releases and printed publicity.
The photos taken will be available via a link from this webpage to you, for free download.
We take reasonable steps NOT to publish the names of Fun Run participants, however, runners taking part in the Adult races will be identifiable from the published race results coupled with bib numbers in photographs. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information.
