Sandstone Trail and Cheshire Half

By /

Loads to report here! Let’s kick things off with the Mid-Cheshire 5K race from a couple of weeks back, which also happened to be the UK 5K championship. Thomas, Ian, Koen, and Gael all smashed their personal bests and even set new club records for their age groups. Pretty impressive stuff!

Then we had James taking on the Ring O Fire race, a grueling 135-mile journey around the Isle of Anglesey. Kate joined him for the Firefighter race, which is just Day 1 of the Ring O Fire but still a tough 35.7 miles long. Despite the scorching heat, they both finished strong, although James had to bow out of the main race.

Last Sunday was a jam-packed day of races, even though the weather wasn’t on our side. We had runners tackling both the Sandstone A and B races, as well as four members completing the Great North Run. Six members also conquered the Cheshire Half Marathon at Capesthorne Hall, with Phil leading the pack and coming oh-so-close to a new club record.

And let’s not forget about our male team at the North West 5K Road Relays! Held at Ormskirk University, this race featured over 90 teams and some seriously tough competition. Huge shoutout to Jonathon, Chris, Andy, and Phil for representing the club – especially Phil, who somehow managed to squeeze in two races in one day. Talk about dedication!
