“Delighted to have finished the La Rochelle marathon in 03:57:01 – I was hoping for 4 hours so really really pleased with my result! It was a PB by about 20 minutes and I came 55th out of 166 in my category.
It was a beautiful sunny, fairly cold day, in lovely La Rochelle and the course was two laps going around the town, which is beautiful, and the harbour before finishing under the castle wall.
There were around 9,000 runners I think, some doing the marathon, some doing a 10k and some doing the marathon as a duo – one lap each.
Finishers received a jacket, cake and fruit, medal and ladies also got a flower.
I enjoyed it all, didn’t really feel like I hit a wall -was a really fantastic event.“
