The Warrington Way starts and finishes in the lovely Cheshire village of Lymm, about 5 miles east of Warrington.    The route takes in the villages/areas of Warburton, Rixton, Birchwood, Winwick, Burtonwood, Bold, Penketh, Sankey Bridges, Moore, Appleton, Hatton, Stretton and High Legh before returning to Lymm.

The route is NOT fully waymarked, though there are green/white tape markers about every 0.5 miles and at all junctions on the route to help to guide you.  Nevertheless, entrants MUST be able to navigate around the route.  All entrants are provided at registration with a four page colour OS map of the route with an accompanying narrative route description at registration.  You can download the Route description and the four pages of maps (Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, and Stage 4) in advance and we advise you to familiarise yourself with the route before the race.

We also provide a GPX file suitable for loading into most navigation devices with GPS, and a TCX file specially for those of you with Garmin devices. You can also view the whole route on MapMyRun.

Entrants are required to follow the whole route – this is NOT a point to point event.  There are four stages with checkpoints  offering basic food and drink at 10, 20 and 30 miles and a meal provided at the finish for both solo and relay runners.  The locations of staffed checkpoints are all listed below.

In addition, there will be “flying” marshal checks at some clearly signposted intervening points on the route, with marshals who will record entrant’s race numbers and time.  It is entrants’ responsibility to ensure they are recorded at each checkpoint and at flying marshal checks.
